Charter, Spectrum, RoadRunner, Brighthouse, and TWC email Settings and Support Guide

A handy reference guide to Spectrum email, formerly known as Charter. While the parent company is still known as Charter Communications, it introduced the Spectrum brand in 2014. Previous customers have a @charter.net email domain, while newer customers are given @spectrum.net emails.

Because of various acquisitions, there are many other email domains that are under the Spectrum umbrella, including TWC, Brighthouse, and Roadrunnner (rr.com). These are all accessible here.

Spectrum Email FAQs

How do I access my Spectrum email?

Spectrum gives its customer up to five free email boxes – one primary, and 4 sub-accounts. You can access your email through a web browser, or with an email app on your computer or phone. It doesn’t matter which method you choose: if you get your mail with a web browser, you’ll still have full access to all of your emails with an app, and vice versa.

The webmail links and email app server settings are listed above. SMTP is the server for sending mail, and IMAP or POP is how you receive email. Important: when you set up your email app, be sure to use the IMAP server option rather than POP. If you use POP, your message will be downloaded to your app and you won’t have access to them anymore through a web browser or apps you set up on other devices. Only use POP if using a very old mail client that doesn’t support IMAP.

How do I access my Roadrunner email?

Time Warner Cable launched the Road Runner service back in 1995, initially under the different name of LineRunner. The Road Runner name continued until 2012, when Time Warner Cable rebranded it simply as Time Warner Cable Internet. TWC was acquired by Charter Communications in 2016.

You can still access your RR.com email! There are several possible domains, including: bak.rr.com, bham.rr.com, cfl.rr.com, emore.rr.com, eufala.rr.com, indy.rr.com, mi.rr.com, panhandle.rr.com, tampabay.rr.com.

You access your rr.com email, simply use the Webmail links above. If you want to use an email on your computer or phone, use the SMTP and IMAP settings listed above. (You can use POP, but IMAP is a better option.)

If you’ve forgotten your rr.com username, you can recover it with the phone number associated with your account and the MAC address listed on your Spectrum modem. Use the Spectrum username recovery tool for details.

I’ve set up my primary Spectrum email. How do I create or remove additional mail accounts?

With Spectrum email, you get up to five free email accounts. If you’ve set up your primary account, you can add or delete sub-accounts by visiting the Self Care page.

Once you’re on that page, select Create New Sub User to create a new email account, or Manage User to delete an existing one.

What is the attachment size limit for Spectrum email?

With Spectrum email, the maximum size of attachments with incoming or outgoing messages is 30 MB (megabytes).

If you need to send larger attachments, try compressing the files first. In Windows, right click the file, select Send to, and then click Compressed (zipped) folder.

Keep in mind that some spam systems filter out .zip files. Another alternative is to send your files with a cloud service such as iCloud or Dropbox.

Why can’t I log into my Spectrum email?

If you can’t access your Spectrum email, there are a few possible reasons why.

First, check to see if you have internet access. You can use the speed test and also check if there is an outage reported.

Another possible reason is that you haven’t logged into your account in awhile. After 180 days of inactivity, your mailbox will be locked and any incoming message will be rejected. To avoid this happening, you simply need to log in at least once every 180 days. While your account is locked, your existing messages won’t be deleted, but any incoming messages will be rejected.

Warning: if you don’t log into your Spectrum email at least once every 400 days, your mail account may be permanently deleted!

How do I transfer my Spectrum email to Gmail?

There’s a two-step process if you want to transfer your Spectrum email to Gmail. (This process is also applicable to Charter, Road Runner, Brighthouse, and TWC email.) First, you’ll want to do a bulk import of all your emails and contacts. Next, set up Gmail to fetch all any new emails that are received.

In Gmail, click on the gear icon and then click Settings. Follow the prompts to set up the import, using the IMAP email settings listed above.

After you’ve done the initial import, configure Check email from other accounts, which is in the same settings menu. This will set up Gmail to fetch new emails from your Spectrum account.

You can read more at the Gmail Support page.

How much storage do I get with Spectrum email?
Your Spectrum email include 5 GB of total storage per account. This means each of your five available mailboxes has a 5 GB quota.
